Our Goal

The program's goals are the following:

• Enable children to learn and play hockey in a fun and supportive
  environment
• Help children to develop life skills of teamwork, sportsmanship,
  respect and perseverance
• Encourage a balance between sports and other childhood endeavors
  
• Enable broad participation by keeping playing costs low
• Promote participation that reflects the diversity of the residents of the City of New Rochelle for the benefit of the members, the New Rochelle public school system and the community.

History

New Rochelle Youth Hockey, originally known as New Rochelle Hockey, Inc, was founded in 1981. The program developed throughout the early 1980’s. By the end of the decade, the organization was a USA Hockey certified program with travel teams competing in the Hudson Valley Hockey League at all levels below Juniors. Although the organization stopped fielding teams in 2003 as membership dwindled, New Rochelle Youth Hockey retained a President and Board of Directors as they tried to revitalize the program. In 2006, a new group of parents were elected as officers and directors and began to regrow the organization into a thriving youth hockey program.
